The Genalta Power Advantage

Genalta Power is quickly becoming the leader in the Waste Energy to Power (WEP) industry.  From our flexible business model to our exclusive relationships with suppliers and engineering firms, we provide cost effective and environmentally low-impact power options that are tailored to the specific opportunities of our clients.

The economics of smaller scale WEP projects historically have been deemed economically unfeasible.  However, with advancements in technology and through strategic relationships, Genalta Power has been able to find power solutions that are cost effective and span the range between 1 to10 MW, providing exceptional profit opportunities for our clients and partners.

The core advantages of working with Genalta Power include:

  • Access to site specific solutions designed using proprietary softsware and implemented using the best in class technologies gained through over 50,000 hours of dedicated design and engineering time.
  • No Capital Requirements  - Genalta Power will place all of the capital required to build and operate a waste energy facility while offering our clients the option to "buy in" at any time during the life of the project on a depreciated basis.  We understand that often a waste energy solution is not core to our clients business and that their capital is better utilized in growing their own business.
  • Turnkey Solutions - Genalta Power offers a complete Waste Energy to Power solution that includes equipment, long term service contracts, Greenhouse Gas registration and sales, grid/ behind the fence power connections, regulatory compliance, third party QA/QC compliance and project financing.
  • Site Operation Cost Reduction - Through Genalta Power's flexible Power Purchase Agreement options our clients are able to lock in power prices that are at a fixed rate indexed to inflation or choose a revenue sharing model that is not subject to 'distribution and management fees' incurred from conventional power suppliers.  Also, if the site does not use all of the power generated behind the fence, the balance can be distributed to the grid with the revenue used to offset operating costs.
  • Power Rate Hedging - The electrical supply/demand gap continues to increase with a 20,000 GWh electrical shortfall estimated by 2018 in Alberta. Genalta Power sells the electricity it generates to our clients on a fixed price energy contract for up to 20 years, removing any financial exposure to power rate increases over the term of the contract.
  • Reliable Power - Genalta Power's equipment typically runs at about 96% capacity factor, reducing lost revenue potential as a result of brown/black outs and facility output reductions due to limited power available from the grid.  Maintenance of Genalta Power's equipment can be coordinated to coincide with the maintenance schedule of the waste energy source ensuring no disruption in power generation.
