Drew Shaw is the Founder and CEO of Genalta Power, overseeing the strategic direction of the Alberta-based, distributed energy power producer. As an original founder of Genalta, Drew brings over 20 years of management and financial experience in various industries, including private and publically traded companies, ranging from petroleum and manufacturing to renewable energy. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Drew held top executive positions within Genalta, including CFO and Vice President of Finance. Overseeing all financial elements of the company ranging from raising capital, financial management, tax management and budgets, to investor relations and special projects, Drew also oversaw the legal and regulatory departments within the company.
Drew began his career with a multi-national firm focused on petroleum E & P software training. A few years later, as CFO of Mastco Derrick Services, Canada's largest fabricator of land-based drilling rigs, he oversaw an explosive 500% increase in revenue and the ultimate sale to a publically traded Income Trust. He later joined EPOD Solar, an integrated, multi-national, renewable energy company, and as CFO he oversaw financial operations for interests in Canada and throughout Europe while preparing the company for presentation to the public markets.
Drew’s academic credentials include a Certified Professional Accountant designation and a Commerce degree from the University of Alberta.
Paul Miller, P.Eng, MBA
As President, Paul is responsible for executing the long and short term strategies of the company as approved by the CEO and the Board. He is responsible for the day to day operations of the company and its operating subsidiaries in conjunction with the current management team. Paul is a professional engineer licensed in Alberta and Ontario.
Prior to joining Genalta Power, Paul was the President and CEO for a Calgary based, publically listed, international exploration company with properties in India, Israel and Colombia. He has a depth of experience working in the oil and gas industry all over the world. Paul began his career in the Alberta with a large independent producer before moving on to a global engineering consulting company. He has a wealth of international experience having headed up business units in Australia, Eastern North America, and the Middle East.
Paul brings both private and public market experience to his role and an understanding of supporting remote office locations through periods of growth. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta in Chemical Engineering and the Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA program.
Craig Parsons, MBA
Executive Vice President - Finance
As EVP Finance, Craig is responsible to ensure adequate financing is in place and project economics meet standards, as set out in the company’s business plan. As part of this mandate, he is responsible for the firm’s research and development group, a driver of cost reduction, grants and tax credits. He will provide the point of contact for investors and potential investors.
Craig began his career on Wall Street as a financial analyst and options trader before returning to Calgary to become CFO of a TSX list oil and gas exploration firm. Other experience includes founder of a wealth management firm and President of Cheque Free Corporation, a national payment process firm. In these roles he managed numerous public and private financings of debt and equity, as well as several mergers and acquisitions. His public market and wealth management experience in rapidly growing businesses provide the background for his support of Genalta Power and its stakeholders.
Juliane Kniebel-Huebner, MBA, M.Eng.
Vice President - Projects
As Vice President of Projects, Juliane is responsible for project execution, research operations, integrated communication and SCADA. Juliane ensures project delivery is on time and on budget; as well as optimizing long term operating costs. Juliane brings 18 years of experience in developing power projects to Genalta Power.
Prior to joining Genalta Power, Juliane provided regulatory and project management services throughout the life cycle of energy projects, across North America, as an independent consultant. As a manager, Juliane has overseen the approval processes for several power plants and transmission facilities in Canada and the U.S. She has international experience in energy framework development, and has developed energy projects in emerging markets. Her career started in Germany’s wind industry.
Juliane graduated from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany, with a Master of Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration
Adrian Davison, P.Eng
Vice President - Operations
As Vice President of Operations, Adrian is responsible for both the construction and day-to-day operations for the organization. Adrian brings 22 years of of global experience in renewable, biomass, and manufacturing optimization engineering.
Prior to joining Genalta Power, Adrian served in a variety of senior engineering roles. His expertise has greatly expanded Genalta's intellectual portfolio through his work in global markets, and through his design of unique combined cycle projects related to large scale manufacturing. Adrian has driven over a billion dollars of measurable value into manufacturing and utilities industries.
Adrian is graduate of the Houldsworth School of Engineering at University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. He is also a licensed Engineer in both Alberta and the EU.
Monique Verlaan, CPA CA CA(SA)
Vice President - Finance and Accounting
As Vice President of Finance and Accounting, Monique is responsible for overseeing accounting, financial reporting and treasury. Monique brings 20 year's of international experience in finance and financial accounting to our team.
Prior to joining Genalta Power, Monique served as the Regional Financial Services Manager - East Africa for an international oil and gas company overseeing the financial aspects of five different countries and eight affiliates. She has also held Board positions on various subsidiary oil and gas companies serving in a financial capacity.
She is a graduate of UNISA where she earned both her Masters of Business Leadership and Bachelors of Accounting Science degrees. Monique is a Chartered Accountant in both Canada and South Africa.
