The GEM System is based on an Integrated Energy System (IES) that has been designed for Genalta Power and developed specifically to generate electricity from varying grade heat sources. The IES is a closed-loop binary cycle that uses hot liquids to generate electrical power and is based on the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC).
The GEM System and its component parts use the latest technologies to ensure the reliability, efficiency and reduced life-cycle cost of the equipment. The system is driven by a simple reverse refrigeration cycle using non-toxic, non-flammable refrigerants specifically chosen for the specific climate and safety conditions of a chosen site. These fluids are entirely enclosed and produce no emissions. The only by-product is electricity.
Genalta Power's IES is based on a thermodynamic cycle known as the Organic Rankine Cycle. This technology converts waste heat energy to electricity through the vaporization and expansion of working fluids. Components using electromagnetic bearings ensure high product quality, reduced operating cost and reliability.
The turbo-expander used in Genalta Power's IES is derived from a centrifugal vapor compressor designed specifically for the generation of power. This combination of design and equipment synergy has created an extremely reliable and cost effective solution for the generation of power.
Genalta Power's own engineering and design capabilities include mechanical, electrical, chemical and controls engineers who customize each project to site specifications.
