Graham Illingworth - Chief Executive Officer & President

As President and Chief Executive Officer, Graham is responsible for formulating and executing long-term strategies.  He brings an in-depth and broad based knowledge of renewable energy, corporate finance and corporate leadership gained through over 25 years of executive level positions. 

Prior to joining Genalta Graham was President of EPOD Solar - a fully integrated Solar Power producer with manufacturing and power generating facilities throughout Europe and North America. Graham started his career with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, after which he joined Polar Diversified Ltd. a holding company with interests in steel fabrication and glass processing.  After leaving Polar, Mr. Illingworth joined the Credit Union Central of Newfoundland and Labrador as the CEO.  After a series of additional executive level positions, Graham founded Geotivity Inc., an environmental monitoring, manufacturing and engineering firm with offices throughout North America; Geotivity was noted by Deloitte & Touche as one of the Fastest 50 Growing Companies.
 
Graham has been involved at the Executive and Board level in both profit and not-for-profit organizations and currently sits on the Board of Genalta Power.

 

 

Drew Shaw - Chief Financial Officer

Drew Shaw serves as Chief Financial Officer for Genalta Power and brings more than 15 years of experience acting as the financial lead for private and publically traded companies ranging from petroleum and manufacturing to renewable energy.  Mr. Shaw plays a key role in the overall management and direction of the firm and oversees all financial elements of the company ranging from internal controls such as financial management, tax management and budgets to investor relations and special projects.

Drew graduated from the University of Alberta with a Commerce degree in Management Information Systems and began his career with a multi-national firm focused on petroleum E & P software training.  A few years later, as CFO of Mastco Derrick Services, Canada's largest fabricator of land-based drilling rigs, he oversaw an explosive 500% increase in revenue and the ultimate sale to a publically traded Income Trust. 

Most recently, he was CFO of EPOD Solar, an integrated, multi-national, renewable energy company where he oversaw financial operations for interests in Canada and throughout Europe while preparing the company for presentation to the public markets.  As Genalta Power looks forward to exceptional growth in years to come, Drew will play an integral role, establishing a solid infrastructure of financial security and processes that will foster the firm's continued success.

 

 

W. Dale Hildebrand, P.Eng., MBA - Sr. Vice President

Mr. Hildebrand joins Genalta Power with 25 years of specific industry experience in the electricity industry sector focusing on operations, regulatory compliance, grid tie-in procedures and power generation development.  Through his career Dale has developed a strong reputation as a solutions provider by managing, presenting and delivering results through the evaluation of electrical utility rates, power purchase agreements, service offerings and power project development.

Dale's previous role as a regulatory consultant has earned him the reputation as being a specialist in regulated environments, tariff development, economic evaluations, electricity generation development, utility option comparisons and re-negotiations.  His knowledge and experience has provided him the opportunity to testify as a policy and expert witness before utility commissions across Canada, co-authoring numerous reports, advocating for legislative changes and providing evidence and arguments filed with both regulators and the courts.

As Vice President, Dale will provide strategic direction to Genalta Power and its clients in order to develop and enhance power producing projects.  In addition, his role will involve the communication and negotiation of complex issues with utilities, governments and their agencies.  Dale will continue to provide consulting services to clients in all aspects of Canada's electric energy industries.

Dale has a Mechanical Engineering degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Alberta.

 

 

Barbara D. Baker - VP Business Development

Barbara Baker brings to Genalta Power 21 years of energy experience, with 17 years specifically in the electric power industry.  She has consulted with industrial and commercial power users to procure electric power using both financial hedging products and on-site generation and also assisted in reducing their operating costs.  Barbara assisted an electric power company in its expansion plans into the unregulated power business, constructed power purchase contracts, and designed financial risk management tools.

As Vice President, Barbara will continue to build Genalta Power's business by designing waste heat recovery options for our clients, ensuring  these options provide financial and environmental benefits to our clients.

Barbara graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor Degree in Science with a Physics major and Biology minor and a Master of Arts in Economics.

 

 

Joseph P. Kiss, M.Eng., P.Eng. - Vice President & General Manager

Joseph Kiss joins Genalta Power with over 15 years of senior management experience with his previous role as Vice President & General Manager of an award-winning, high-growth company servicing the oil & gas and construction industries. As a professional engineer registered with APEGGA, Joseph has extensive executive experience in research and product development, materials, environmental and facilities engineering, project management, operations, business development and corporate management.
As General Manager of Genalta Power, Joseph is responsible for the corporate planning, direction and coordination of all aspects of Genalta Power's business. Joseph will provide leadership, management and strategic direction to ensure optimum performance as Genalta Power positions itself for the future.
Joseph has his Masters in Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Calgary, with executive program from the Haskayne School of Business.

 

 

Tammy Sherger - Director, People Resource & Development

Tammy Sherger serves Genalta Power as the Director of People Resource & Development. Tammy began her career as a small business owner followed by 20 years in the big box retail industry. Tammy brings with her a passion and the experience of coaching, teaching and mentoring people to reach their maximum potential.

As the Director of People Resource & Development Tammy will recruit and retain the highest level of talented and knowledgeable people to support Genalta Power's explosive growth. Tammy will align the HR function with Genalta Power's business strategy to meet the Human Resource mission statement; "to maximize the potential of each Genalta Power employee to meet and exceed the goals of the company."

 

 

Geoff Lester, P.Eng. - Director, Business Development

Geoff brings to Genalta over 13 years of experience in business development, project management and construction. He brings a wealth of experience in oil & gas project development from project conception through to construction and operations.

Geoff has been involved with projects worldwide and contributes a high level of expertise in creating solutions both for greenfield project conception and brownfield adaptation. His previous roles in project and client management enhance Genalta Power's ability to develop waste energy to power projects that are specifically oriented to the needs of hydrocarbon and industrial production facilities.

Geoff graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Chemical Engineering and has held progressively senior positions in utility management, operations, construction, project management and business development. Geoff is a current member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA).

As Director of Business Development, Geoff provides leadership to a business development team focused on creating site specific solutions and building long-term relationships with our clients.

 

 

Steven Bull, P.Eng., M.Eng. - Director, Operations

Mr. Bull joins Genalta Power with 20 years of industry experience in the pulp & paper and electrical generation industries focusing on the areas of operations, engineering and maintenance.  Steven's varied roles and experience at different pulp & paper operations and intimate involvement with the startup and commercialization of a small scale distributed generation and waste products conversion facility allow him to contribute in many areas of the Genalta business.

In Steven's previous roles as process engineer, project engineer, project manager, maintenance superintendent  and operations manager he has supported large scale ongoing unionized operations under intense cost reduction conditions while looking for increased efficiencies and productivity.  As a senior operations manager Steven supported the commercialization, staffing and optimization of a 5MW distributed generation and waste conversion facility. During this time he developed corporate and site level systems that included training manuals, scheduling systems, procedures, maintenance systems, purchasing system, inventory control, capital asset management and the deployment of a company wide financial and asset management systems. Steven has built a strong reputation for getting the job done in difficult conditions and providing quality, long term solutions with minimum capital deployed.

As Director of Operations, Steven will provide strategic and operational direction of the project management, engineering, construction and commissioning of Genalta Power's distributed generation facilities.  In addition to this role, Steven will be responsible for the development of ongoing operational and maintenance policies, procedures and systems for these facilities.

Steven has a Chemical Engineering degree and a Master of Pulp & Paper Engineering degree from the University of British Columbia.
